Rhythms when driving a vehicle
The wheels rustle along the highway, the hand strokes the steering wheel, the trees flash outside the window, and the interior is filled with wonderful music sounds. Few people can remain indifferent to such a picture. In this context, you can want to check out some automobile for sale.
However, having joined the traffic, one should take into account a simple thing- a trip should be safe both to them and to others. Whether music prevents safety is a question that does not have an unambiguous answer, but let us try to consider all the pros and cons.
Classical music, rap or rock
It has long been proven that different styles of music have different effects on us and even on animals (everyone probably knows about the experiment conducted on cows who were made to listen to rock and classical music and how the amount of milk they produced differed). Naturally, music affects the person who drives a car. Calm classical, slow melody contributes to peace; the driver will be very calm and focused on the road. However, when it comes to rap or rock (especially hard rock), the situation is completely different: the rhythm of the music makes you drive faster; sometimes a person can even tap into this rhythm with their hands drumming on the steering wheel and pretending they are playing on musical instruments. Here the danger of an accident is obvious.
Often, you can encounter some drivers, in whose cars music is blasting so loudly that it is possible to hear it on the street even before the car is in sight. The modern acoustic technology is capable of producing a very loud sound, which does not contribute to safety. The driver of a car with blasting music may not hear the sound horns made by other cars, which not only makes traffic more difficult, but also may conceal a threat. With the sound of music abounding in bass, the rear view mirror might vibrate, which leads to distorted visibility. With the constant impact of such loud music, the driver’s sensitivity is reduced, which also affects safety.
Numerous studies have shown that the human body, at the physiological level, reacts differently to different music. The rhythm of drivers driving cars with and without music varies. Music lovers practically do not have significant fluctuations; accordingly their reaction to the danger is weaker. When using a driving simulator, those who rode with music on ran the red light 2 times more often. Sometimes when tapping into the rhythm of music, drivers unconsciously begin to press the gas pedal more forcefully, even unintentionally increasing the speed, which becomes a threat to everyone.
Among drivers, there are of course supporters and opponents of listening to music while driving, but whatever your attitude is, the main thing is safety and the understanding that you are one of those people, who influences the safety and well-being of others.
